The morning was hot and bright. John and Dannell had friends up for the weekend, and they were a very sweet family with great kids, so much fun. Julia and their daughter are the same age and had a blast. No idea what Uncle John is telling him here. Sweet July. Love, Val

We had a great weekend at the lake, beautiful weather, good-natured people, lots of food, and this birthday to celebrate. Dan baked the cake, and all the excited people sang. He’s probably not a particularly excited person anymore. He used to be. But now he’s calm. Sweet, lovely Alicia: We love you so very dearly.
